Welcome to the build diary of our T5 camper conversion! I have wanted a VW camper for a very long time but there has always been a reason why I couldn’t have one.
So finally, at the ripe old age of 41 (and a very large amount of months) we have finally bought a VW T5 to convert.
This is a picture we took at the showroom:
Van specs:
- 2014 T5 T28
- 99,000 miles
- Air-con
- Electric Heated Folding Mirrors
- Cruise Control
- Factory Bluetooth
- Rear Parking Sensors
Over the next year we intend to do a full camper conversion, which I am going to document in this build thread.
Our plans for the conversion (none of which are final) are:
- Soundproofing & Insulation
- Elevating roof
- Swivel Double seat
- SatNav Upgrade
- R&R bed on rails
- Underslung gas tank
- Propex heater
- Fitted units
- Tow Bar
- Lowered 35mm ish
- 18” alloys
- Chrome side bars
- Sportline front spoiler & splitter
- Rear Sportline spoiler
- Reversing camera
My current plan is not to fit any underslung tanks, but to have a grey water tank which I can slide under the van, and a clean water tank which I can put in the unit at the back.
